Research in the Parry Lab focuses on understanding the mechanisms that underlie forest distributions and range dynamics. We use a combination of ecological theory, statistical modeling, and field studies of forest communities to investigate ecological patterns and processes that span multiple spatial and temporal scales. We are particularly interested in developing and applying statistical modeling frameworks that can effectively integrate cross-scale data to generate more robust projections of forest responses to climate change. Current research projects include:

  1. The climatic dependence of recruitment in western forests
  2. Linking demography and population dynamics to tree range dynamics
